When you were little, did you ever dream of being a princess? What it would be like to wear beautiful ball gowns and dance in a castle with Prince Charming; to explore all the hidden treasures in the castle, to look out beyond the horizon and wonder, to live in a spacious and elegant life where you’re free to roam anywhere and everywhere. Now, when I was little I loved princesses, but my dream was to be a horse. Not to own one, but to be one… Yes, yes I know… 😀
Now this may sound cheesy, but I don’t care. God has been showing me how he is my Prince Charming, and I am His Cinderella.
“Cinderella” means “little ash-girl”; another way to observe this name is cinders=ashes, bella= beautiful in Italian and Latin (That is how God broke it down for me). So I’m not saying God is calling me ashy, haha. But as I’m writing this He’s actually showing me how He’s brought me from ashes and made me something beautiful.
“Then the Lord God formed man from dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”
Genesis 2:7
“and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.”
Isaiah 61:3
“You make beautiful things out of dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us.”
Michael Gungor– Beautiful Things
God has made beautiful things out of all of us. We used to be literally, dust. He breathed the breath of life into us and made us alive. We are made in His image, so we bear God’s splendor physically, but also in our hearts, in the way we live our lives. That is amazing if you ask me. He turned our hearts from ashes, and made beauty out of those ashes. We were once dead, but now we are alive (Colossians 2:13, Ephesians 2:1-5).
We are alive, because He is alive. And he didn’t leave us as dirt, or ashes, but has given us new life and life to the fullest. We have a life to live WITH Him.
We went from being slaves to the evil stepmother, being held in captivity, to living life freely with our Prince Charming, our Heavenly Creator. What used to hold us captive, no longer does. Now we are free from hurt, free from the past, free from fears and we get to roam the castle He’s brought us to live in,
I’ll give you a summary of what God has shown me-
- I am Cinderella– Beauty from ashes; He calls me beautiful.
- He is my Prince Charming– pursues me, rescues me, loves me, searched every house and every person until He found me
- He makes Cinderella feel so beautiful– God looks at me in awe, He’s dazzled by me, just how Prince Charming is dazzled by Cinderella.
- He’s brought me to live in his castle– Has given me His inheritance. I get to spend forever in Heaven with God. I live in His kingdom, in His love.
- Explore this new land– He wants to show me the land that I now own and live in, our King of Kings wants to spend time running, dancing, exploring with me.
Now I don’t know about you, but I’ve never looked at Cinderella before and seen this. But God wanted me to see this. He wanted me to see how in love He is and how much freedom I have in Christ. This analogy is very personal, but I felt that God wanted to share this with you and I am so happy to be able to.
And now, I want you to see this personally. I pray that these things resonate with you and that God reminds you of your beauty, your freedom, and His love.
