We have officially made it back from outreach in one piece. Traveling from the Philippines and then the 8 day journey from the indigenous tribes of Northern Australia, the 4 Wheel drive DTS has made it back to Perth. The past year God has blessed me with the opportunity to travel to 7 different countries (including 3 airport stops)- Australia, America, Dubai, India, Philippines, Hong Kong and Singapore. How crazy is that?!
Our time in the Kimberley was very different from the Philippines. For one, the culture is completely opposite. Aboriginals value relationships, so much of our time was spent building and investing in relationships there. The mornings were spent practically serving our contacts and their church, as the pastor broke his shoulder bone and could not do much. The afternoons and evenings were spent building relationships with people in the community, as we cooked dinner for them. Our team faced a lot of spiritual warfare in health, so there were many hospital visits. Thankfully God healed our team by the end so we could finish hard and healthy.
We stayed in a community called Hallscreek with a pastor and his wife for a few days. While we were there God provided the opportunity to be on the radio! So we went live on the radio and were able to share testimonies and music. It was so cool to be able to communicate where everyone in that area can listen even though we were only there for a few days. God reaches everyone! We also go to spend time with the kids in that area, encourage the pastor, and reconnect with people who are struggling with their faith.
Being in the Kimberley reminded me of the importance of making time for simply being with people. So now God has called me to serve in the hospitality ministry here at YWAM Perth where I get to communicate value and love. Bring it on!
